Power Outage

POWER OUTAGE

Today there was a major power outage all over town. Bolton Primary School didn’t have power for most of the day.  “We almost had to shut down and go home says student Zaika.  “It was kinda weird and creepy, she adds.

    Q&A
BB. What was it like in your neighborhood this morning?

ZM. Our power went out for 5 minutes and then it was a regular morning

BB.Your morning sounds pretty easy I know that mine was very hectic. What do you think about the power outage?

ZM. I’m surprised that it happened.

Bolton Bee Fit Club

Feeling bored at recess? Well, our Bolton fourth graders have created the Bolton Bee Fit Club! The Bee Fit Club is taking place outside during kindergarten through fifth grade recess break on Mondays and Fridays. In the Bee Fit Club you can run laps on the playground.

You should look for the box with your teacher’s name and then look for a little yellow punch card with your name. You have to run a lap in order to get a hole punched in your card. Certain grades have to run a certain number of laps to get a foot token. A foot token is a small charm.

Here is graph with the number of  laps each grade has to complete in order to get a foot token.

 Grade                                                 Laps

Kindergarten 1 lap
First Grade 2 laps
Second grade-Third grade 3 laps
Fourth grade-Fifth grade 4 laps

There are cones to mark the way each lap leads. You don’t have to run, you can just walk a lap. It’s your choice.

Sadly, Bee Fit Club only takes place on the big playground so the preschoolers are not able to participate. Foot charms are only given every other Thursday.  If you’re feeling bored check out the Bee Fit Club during your recess ! 🙂

OBOB time

                                                                                        OBOB

It is time for a yearly activity! It is OBOB.  OBOB stands for Oregon Battle of the Books.  Readers form teams of 4-5 people and read 16 books. The books are new each year. Then the teams use their knowledge of the books to answer difficult questions about the titles. Sadly , the time to sign up has past. Battles start January 23. Students can come and watch but must not shout answers.  We hope you come watch the students compete!  Eventually 16 teams will make it to the school finals and the winning team goes to the regional championship!

If you have any questions ask Mrs. Tibbs, the librarian or Mrs. King.
